Can the Work Placement Program put me on a apprenticeship?

What is your main preference - a graphics apprenticeship, returning back to Uni, self employment, part time employment of 12 hours or that temporary course?
My plan B for now is doing the temporary course first, which will be next month. I would like to go on a graphics apprenticeship afterward. That would help me a great deal. I would like to do that and gain some experience.
I will sign off again this month and continue to do volunteering work. I will try and apply again for uni next year if I cant get on to an apprenticeship.0 -
Why not look at selling services through websites like peopleperhour? I have bought thousands of pounds of freelance design through PPH - about 80% of my freelancers are based in the UK and charge appropriately. You are competing with freelancers from all over the world but in my experience you can pitch your work at rates comparable to the market here - people look for quality not necessarily just price.
Thanks for the reply. I would look into that.0 -

I think "would you like a bag with that?" would be a better phrase to learn :P0 -
Have you declared your husband's work and student income to the Jobcentre? Are you on a credits only JSA claim?0

You're looking at a niche area that at present you don't have the skills or experience for. Why not contact your chosen university today, see if you can speak to someone before the holidays? If you can use a direct email address, not just the general admissions one, that should get you a quicker response.
Have you not had any luck securing seasonal work? Has someone looked over your CV?0 -

By plan B, I meant a second choice of career outside of graphics which is v. competitivefield. Do you have other skills and interests?0 -

Please visit 'BoycottWorkfare.org' and read up on what they have to say about Mandatory Work Placements.
It appears that to comply with High Court rulings, they have to make the first week vountary, so if you leave during week 1, you cannot be sanctioned.
Also, if you tell the Jobcentre you are volunteering for 15 hours a week to gain work experience (you can easily find a voluntary role by just calling into a few charity shops (but do not volunteer for the Salvation Armay as they support MWA/MWP, so need as much negative publicity as they can get)).
This will impress your advisor and they will tend to be less inclined to stick you on a course or work scheme if they believe that the voluntary role is much more likely to land you a job.Never Knowingly Understood.

I was transferred to a new adviser this week. I been on the do-it website and had more replies back to do more volunteering work for animal care and be a gallery assistant. I tell her about the course I'm doing for next month too. Thank you!0
