Toilet rolls (already stocked up)
Spare gift in case I forget someone
Batteries - nothing worse than a child receiving a battery operated gift and not having batteries for it0 -
Loo rolls and rolling tobacco. Already got more than enough to last until next year.
It's based on what one's prepared to turn out of the house for in the pouring rain + the horrors of discovering you're completely out of an item when all the shops are shut.
Beyond a loo roll and some tobacco, everything else in life's just trimmings.0 -
Our local petrol station and the local branch of McColls are both open on Christmas Day. One is about a mile away, one about a mile and a half. Batteries are expensive in both, though, hence them being on my list!0

Nothing
There's several shops open within walking distance on Christmas day - including a small Co-op and a Sainsburys Local as well as newsagent/corner shop style shops but my house rule is unless I've forgotten something genuinely essential I tend to stay home on Christmas eve and Christmas day.
I once decided I wanted a walk on Christmas eve and walked to our big Tescos to get lightbulbs as two popped that morning which was advertising they closed at 4pm. I got there at 3.45 and couldn't believe how many people were just getting there and as they were taking 2 trollys per couple were presumably doing a Christmas food shopI Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole
