New DMP advice needed desperately

Hi
Need advice please.

I am on a DMP with stepchange, but have since got into more debt following several financial issues. It's now impacted on my daily life and health.
I met with a citizens advice person who recommended to change DMP company and include all new debt and to change my bank account.

My credit is really really really bad and am in a debt spiral. I don't know if I am able to get a bank account. Is there a good basic account?

I wouldn't change dmp provider unless you have to - there's not a lot wrong with stepchange. Talk to them first and see if they'll re-jig your dmp to include the new debts, or whether you now need a different solution.

You should not be banking where you have debts. If you are doing that then stepchange should have already told you to change bank.

There's a list of basic accounts at moneyfacts, and some new ones due any day now

    Hi Dory

If you are in a debt spiral, you need to take action to stop it. As Sourcrates says, nothing wrong with SC but if its easier - and still free- then move to a new provider, but you need to have a budget that works for you and an ability to save up for those things which keep pushing you into debt.

You may know but there is a thread called the DMP mutual support thread, you might find it useful to come over and have a read, we're very friendly and have faced alot of the challenges a DMP throws up.

(& my credit rating is pants too:o so do have some understanding of what you might be going through at the moment.)
Debt -it's a fight that I'm winning, dealing with debt one day at a time.
