Shop Bought Egg Whites

This weekend I'll be making some meringue type dishes as gifts and storing for Christmas party bites.
My concern is the number of egg whites I'll be using and the potential waste as I have no immediate use for the yolks. Today, however, I happened across egg whites in my local supermarket and I'm wondering about these as a substitution.
Cost wise I wonder how effective they are? Will they be as good as the whites I separate myself? At the end of the day though it is taste and effeteness that really maters and I'm also wondering will they taste different?
Anybody on the forum used shop bought egg whites before and what did you think of them?
As always thanks for your comments. Of course feel free to suggest ideas for the yolks!

I get them as part of a food order every few weeks. We used to go through about 30/40 eggs a week, about half of them whites only. Found that for us it was worth it. Saves the hassle of splitting the eggs, and no waste. Reasonably priced to if you can look around/pick them up in a deal.0
