I want to import a lot of silver/ gold into eu. I am basically turning a hobby into a part time business. What I want to know is that if I go to germany, register a business there and then import goods to that address will I be able to import precious metals from China relatively cheaply?
Thanks in advance

If you want to do business in Germany, splendid, but please comply with their tax regs etc. Talk to HMRC about registering here to get European tax eg VAT explained in English? Moving from a hobby to a business is a biggish step so get all the advice you can first.
Do not forget to make an additional Will covering your assets in Germany (have it drawn up in Germany to be certain) as being intestate is a really effective way of staying in folks memory, for decades, for All The Wrong Reasons.0 -
The obvious place to ask for quality advice on importing silver from China into Germany is a UK "Cutting tax" site.
Not.Hideous Muddles from Right Charlies0 -
Considering it IS cutting tax related (i.e cut it from 20% to 6% vat) and I am IN the UK then why not. After all we are p[art of the EU so someone should have some knowledge on it.
Anyway I think you are right it is the wrong place.

You're may be in the UK but you want your business to be in Germany, so a UK forum is not a sensible place to ask. Why you think people using this forum should have significant knowledge of the German tax system is beyond me.0 -
OK to spell this out you need to find someone who as a minimum knows the German law on a PE - look this up - import tariffs in Germany from China, the VAT status of this trade in Germany and the VAT threshold there and that lot is just off the top of my head.Hideous Muddles from Right Charlies0
