Hi
I watched this episode last week but cannot find the recipe anywhere online! It was a woman called tammy from Lincolnshire who cooked it. It was an oven baked suet pastry beef and kidney pie. Would be grateful if anyone can share the recipe.
Thanks

How big was her oven if she fitted a whole cow in it .
Reminds me of Desparate Dan in the Beano, or was it the Dandy.Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,
What it may grow to in time, I know not what.

I don't think its called 'cow pie' I think one of the hairy bikers jokingly called it that. I know what you mean though. its made with beef and kidneys I think. and a suet pastry lid.
personally, I think its a classic steak and kidney pie! try googling that and also suet pastry (which is a doddle to make). and see if that is the pie you remember?0 -
It probably wasn't rocket science. Just your usual steak/kidney pie. I'd slice/fry onions, bit of mustard powder (maybe), lob in meat/kidneys (beef skirt and ox kidneys), fry for a few minutes, lob in stock, big splash of Worcester ..... transfer to oven dish. Add a regular suet crust. Bake. Serve .... undo top button, have seconds ...... moan about over-eating .... then use a spoon to get one last little bit ..... while undoing another button.0

and suet pastry - none of the modern chefs do it - and its so easy to make and sooooo delicious!
I think I will give the recipe!
to cover one pie of about 8 inch diameter
6 ozs of self raising flour
3 ozs of suet
pinch of salt
water to mix.
and that is it really! Mix it all together and roll out to cover your pie. brush with milk or an egg wash and bake in a hot oven until golden brown.
you can add herbs or grated cheese to vary the taste.0 -

That one sounds nice but it has a shortcrust pastry top - I've looked and cant find the one I think the OP means.0
