Urgent Advice Needed Please

Firstly my apologies if I've put this in the wrong section, I couldn't see where else to put it.

Over the past couple of days I've had two letters for an ex-friend who was using my address for correspondence/deliveries as (she was at the time in and out of hostels due to marital problems).

Anyway I've not heard from her in around 6 months and assumed that she's moved on, she always was a bit flighty. So I opened the letters, to my horror these letters are from debt enforcement agencies one for catalogue and one for something else in total about £800.

Both letters said that the bailiffs would be calling - what can I do, this isn't anything to do with me. I've struggled hard to get out of debt myself but now I'm worried sick that they'll think it's me. We both have the same first name!

Any advice would be really helpful as it's really bothering me.

Thanks
Lucina

    Hi Lucina,

I don't know much really, but it's always good to have some supportive people to talk it thro with, so maybe try contacting the Citizen's Advice Bureau.

you need to write to the credit reference agency giving details and asking to be disassociated with the other person.

Can I get other people's financial information removed from my credit report?

If you are not financially connected to other people shown on your report you can ask us to remove their information from your report. This is called a financial disassociation. We cannot do this if you still live at the same address and share a financial link e.g. joint account. If your credit report shows a financial connection that is no longer correct, you can ask us to remove it in the following ways. Please always provide us with your full name and the full name of the person you want to be disassociated from, plus dates of birth, your relationship to that person, and any addresses you have shared. We advise you to also contact the other two UK credit reference agencies for a copy of the information they hold, as it is not necessarily the same. Click here for contact information for other credit reference agencies. 518

Hi, bailiffs cannot call on any one until a) they have been taken to the county court, b) had a judgement entered against them, and c) have failed to comply with the court order.

DMC always threaten everything. they are full of hot air and have NO POWERS WHATSOEVER.

Finally, bottom line is they are not your debts, your not responsible for them, and no one can do anything to enforce them against you.

    Best wishes

Don't open the door to them and return any more letters unopened. I would write acrtoos the envelope "Never lived here" or something similar. Hopefully the letters will then stop.
Find out who you are and do that on purpose (thanks to Owain Wyn Jones quoting Dolly Parton)
