Can employer charge for supplies?

Dreamt last night that my boss started charging me 60p for every meal I give out to a customer in my job, wondering if that's something they could actually do? When we borrow supplies off each other we joke that "that'll be £5" but have read that work can charge for equipment, so why not supplies? - it could be a way of circumventing NMW, or at least covertly cutting wages, especially if charged outside of payroll
In theory you could use disciplinaries to enforce the use of supplies that you charge for

Like cleaners could be charged for cleaning products they use, mechanics for oil and parts on top of charging the customer, and nurses could be charged for medication and laundry, office workers for paper, electricity and rent of a deskThis is a system account and does not represent a real person.
