    Debt-free and Proud!
    Budget is around £30 ish.
Shes not in games, she doesn't even have a computer or internet.
She isn't into tech, she always has my end of contract phones!
I have thought of ipod etc, but as she doesn't have a computer, she cant add songs or update them. Plus, she doesn't do anything that would warrant her listening to music.
She always wears trainers and doesn't like Dr Martins.
Her boyfriend actually bought her a flying helicopter thing, which she is enjoying playing with.
She gets me experience days, so I would feel like im copying?! She wouldn't enjoy an afternoon tea or hot air balloon etc so not sure It would be suitable. Plus she'd have to arrange it, which she would moan about!
    Easy then

  • Does she read magazines? You could get her a subscription.

Or how about a variety of teas, coffees, jams or chutneys?

    Cheeseboard and range of cheeses?

Why does it have to be a surprise?

Why can't you explain your predicament to her and ask what she'd like?

If you're close, I'm sure she wouldn't want you worrying yourself silly about buying a gift for her.

    What does she enjoy?
If she likes eating out, it may be worth finding out whether there is a local restaurant she likes which does vouchers

What I have done sometimes is to give cash but make it more fun -for instnace, my sister and btrother in law have a boat. I wanted to give them something for the boat but most things they might want would be really expensive or quite technical and easy to get wrong (or both) so I gave them some cash, but I folded the notes into little paper boats, and found a fridge magnet in the shape of a boat which I wrapped up with the money and a note explaining that it was to use towards something they needed for the boat.

My sister once gace our brother monye and she got the cash in £1 and £2 coins and used blu-tak to stick them onto a big sheet of card to make a giant dot-to-dot where the dots joined to make a picture associataed with the stuf he was saving for.

I think doing something like that makes giving mpney much more interesting as it shows you have thought about what they might like and would enjoy, and have taken some trouble over it, plus they get a gift to unwrap and you can kep them guessing what it is!

If she would like clothes but is picky, maybe you could make a cut-out doll and fold some bank-notes so it is wearing them as a scarf (or whatever you think you can manage by folding!) and give it to her with a note saying that you would like her to be ablet to treat herself to somting she'd like from her favourite shop.

of course, you can also buy gift cards and do something imaginative in how you present them, but erpsonally, if I'm going to give money I'd rather give actual cash, as it doesn't have an expiry date!

  • Performance car show is on at the NEC in January, how about tickets to that?
  • How about a piece of jewellery? I know you said she's a tomboy but a watch might be a good gift or one of those leather band bracelets, you know the type that are braided & then you can put beads on them, only cheaper versions than pandora or Thomas sabo because they are so expensive!!

I bought my daughter a watch from Next 2 year ago & it was around £25-£30, so within budget.
  • What about cinema vouchers? Then she can pick the film she wants to see!
