    Much better to add VAT to rents on spaces that I deem needlessly large.

    in general landlords do not waste space and neither do tenants especially where there is a housing shortage e.g. London & the SE.
    Many of the places I've lived in London are literally a masterclass in miniaturisation, so if it was a serious suggestion then it won't be effective.

    Your tone once again is unlikely to influence anyone's thinking in the way sensible debate might.

    No reason to limit the Marxism to owners. Renters can be robbed too.

    That would really benefit smaller landlords, keeping below the VAT threshold of £82k, and it would work against the larger landlords. If they did that I'd have to sell one property immediately, and more properties, if they considered a spouses properties as part of the same business.
