To move or not to move

Hi there,

New to the forum but looking for some advice,

I currently work for a small business (7 office based and about 15 other), my role within the company is easy enough and a managerial position, I earn a decent wage. Company is a fairly dry subject matter and the staff are pretty horrible to each other sending rude bullying emails internally about each other (myself and a couple of co-workers have seen these when asked to cover for people when they have been on holiday). Also there is no HR department so we cannot really report this.

The business itself is fairly corrupt in terms of only certain people receiving benefits ( a mix of Director, Managerial and Team Leaders), 5 of the office based receive annual bonuses, some have company cars, healthcare, greater annual leave and regular salary increases. Many also are allowed to work from home or have days off per week fully paid (I have approached this situation since starting a family and have been told I can have the day off but it will be unpaid and I will not be allowed to work from home although another person in my situation has been given the go ahead for a day off paid once a week). My situation is that I receive none of the above, yet regularly hit KPIs and targets bringing in large amounts of revenue for the company, yet this is not rewarded.

I am currently interviewing for another job, more money but not a very interesting business topic. I am hesitate to progress or would be to accept a job offer in case I move to an equally horrible working environment and that I would now be losing my one day off a week to spend with my family. I know the money would be good (a good increase but not essential to our life) and I would be more than able to do the work but am trying to weigh up if my one day off is worth staying at my current role (being unhappy four days a week) to moving to a roll which is a full 5 days but has the potential to be a better place to work.

Its slightly further to travel and similar working hours, same holiday so no real change on my current benefit (or lack of!) package. I would just be moving for the money and the hope that the company is slightly better run and more friendly.

Does it seem worth while moving? or should I looking for something I am really interested in, in order to move back to five working days?

I would move, as what comes across now as your slight resentment to the "certain people" will only get worse and end up as bitterness. Then work really will become unpleasant for you.
