London Zone travel enquiry

Hi,

I'm about to buy an annual travel card for work that would cover me up from zone 4 to 2. Say for example at the weekend I want to travel to a station in zone 1. How do I go about in buying a zone 2 to 1 fare?

Thanks.

  • Your travelcard will be issued on an Oyster card. If you add some additional pay as you go credit, when you make a journey not covered by your travelcard it will deduct the appropriate extension fare from your PAYG balance.

It might be worth setting up auto top-up so you always have enough credit.
  • Or just use a contactless bank card for additional journeys. Costs the same as Oyster but without the top-up hassle or TfL holding onto your money.
    It's only numbers.

But that will mean paying again for zones 2-4 that are covered by the travelcard

Or leaving the station at the Z1/2 boundary to touch in again with the contactless card. Better to follow cosmo's advice.

    Didn't think of that!
