Some help with careers ideas please?

Hi all,
I was wondering if there might be someone out there who could help me with some career ideas. I have just started a new job two weeks ago and it's going terribly. While logically I know that I need to give it some time and learn in the job, I am already dreading going back on Monday morning lol and I really do not feel it's the job for me at all. Obviously I don't want to make the same mistake again with regards to choosing the wrong type of job and I've spent a lot of time dwelling on this over the past few days so I think I am in need of fresh input, so I was wondering if anyone would be so kind as to maybe suggest some ideas for me to think about? I have listed my some information about me and the things I like to do and think I'm good at. While most of my experience has been in one area, I am willing to accept any suggestions with an open mind!
Previous experience/qualifications:
Things I like/ things I think and have been told I'm good at/ what I want from a job:
Like I said, any suggestions would be much appreciated. (: I am in Sheffield if that helps anyone..
Thank you

I have listed my some information about me and the things I like to do and think I'm good at. While most of my experience has been in one area, I am willing to accept any suggestions with an open mind!
Previous experience/qualifications:
- One year of an internship at a housing association, just over a year as a Housing Assistant (had very positive references for this job but I don't want to be an administrator)
- BA degree and housing qualification (got a distinction in this)
Things I like/ things I think and have been told I'm good at/ what I want from a job:
- I have been told I am very helpful, very organised, good with customer service, good at helping others learn at work, a good listener, maybe better at written communication than verbal
- The job I am doing is at the moment is data analysis and I really feel I am struggling with it (and I know others at work think the I am too). I am naturally very shy and hate networking. I don't always feel very confident in confrontation (getting better at it though I think).
- I can't drive, which feels like a bit of a hurdle (learning though..)
- Would ideally like to work for an organisation which has some kind of goal other than generating money for its shareholders ie helping people in some way. As a person I try to be ethical and I don't think I would feel as motivated working for an organisation which did not have similar aims to me.
- I don't really want to pay for any more qualifications or although I would consider studying as part of a job or doing voluntary work to gain skills
- I would ideally like to earn at least £20,000 a year.
- I have a feeling someone might suggest teaching but I don't think I could put up with school children's !!!!!!!! and the hours look too stressful!
Like I said, any suggestions would be much appreciated. (: I am in Sheffield if that helps anyone..
Thank you

I can't imagine you're going to get £20k a year in Sheffield with your limited experience, especially not in the third sector. As for teaching, your degree subject isn't very strong and you say yourself you're not an effective oral communicator.
When you did your degree, what did you think it would lead to?!Trying to be a man is a waste of a woman0 -

Thank you for your input, I don't feel it's necessarily very helpful though as it wasn't what I was asking.
I didn't say I was looking for jobs only in the third sector, I said I wanted to be open minded about the type of jobs I look at.
When I was applying for jobs before I got my current one I applied for four jobs offering £20,000 to £23,000 and I got interviews for all of them (was offered one, turned down the interview for another and got good feedback from another) so I don't think that salary is entirely idealistic and I would consider commuting or accepting slightly less than this for a local job.
In retrospect I probably wouldn't have done a degree, but like many others my age I don't think I necessarily got the best advice while at school. Obviously that's not something I can take back now and all I can do is hope that it may have certain advantages at some point.
Also I didn't even say what my degree subject was in?
I agree teaching isn't something I would be good at. I am trying to be honest about my strengths and weaknesses in the hope of getting ideas and I would be very grateful if anyone would be able to help with this.0 -
What is the degree in?0

Sorry - I misread (tired eyes) and thought you'd done a degree in housing.Trying to be a man is a waste of a woman0

It was in combined honours - Geography and Spanish with German.Topcat1982 wrote: »What is the degree in?0 -
That's fine, it is quite latenotanewuser wrote: »Sorry - I misread (tired eyes) and thought you'd done a degree in housing.
No, the housing qualification was separate from my degree.0 -
How strong are your languages?
If good what about something that makes use of them
Cruise ship front of house or shore excursion
Translation.
What does a housing qualification mean to real world people?
I think you may have to accept your career path will be through an admin type role unless you can latch onto a preexisting skill.0 -
OP describes herself as "shy". Can't imagine front of house at a floating holiday camp would be a great fit.

good customer service is all that is needed, being shy is not that relevant when others will be initiating the contact.0
