Thanks for the tips chanie! I've took them on board and today purchased 6 cans of coke in asda for only £1.50...saves me buying a drink every day in work for a pound a pop!

So...my saving has took a downward turn. Had something come up in my personal life that I had to fork out for so I'm now back to the beginning again which is a big fat 0. So frustrated but the thing it was used for was worth it and very satisfying to be able to help a family member out. I'm right back to it on my January pay, may just have to delay the trip by a month or two. No huge deal

Boo to the savings! That happened to me when I first started to pay off debt, had a few unexpected bills which my modest emergency fund didn't nearly cover!!! But I'm back on track now.

How annoying. But in the grand scheme of things your situation doesn't sound as bad as it could have been.

I'm pleased my tip about the cans helped you. My mantra is all about being MSE but not feeling deprived. By bringing in your cans, you could save about £15 a month, which you could put to your trip but, more importantly, you still get your drink fix.
