Chair covers?

Where do people get chair covers? The venue want £2.20 per cover plus 50p for sash, 90p for linen napkin and £10 per table cloth.
I thought I could do it cheaper myself but most places seem to only hire and charge similar, surely these things can be purchased?

I don't have a good source for chair covers, but when I was thinking about a dry hire venue for my wedding I found that it can be cheaper to just hire some nice chairs rather than have the chair cover and sash. My venue provides the chair covers and sashes included in their package price, but I actually prefer the uncovered decorative chairs like these:

The cost of chair covers was the cost that surprised me the most about the whole of planning our wedding for next year!
I agree with the post above about looking at hiring in different chairs altogether, I really liked those ones that a link has been provided for but unfortunately we have several heavier than average guests who will be attending our wedding (doormen and american football players!) so I didn't want to chance it with the lovely delicate looking chairs.
I found a local supplier who provides lycra chair covers (as opposed to the usual cotton ones) which I actually prefer the look of as they fit our venue's chairs better and with the sash they come in at £1.20 each I think rather than £3+ for the cotton equivalents with other suppliers.0 -
We need the chair covers as the wedding is in an old theatre and the floor is black so need to lighten the place up a bit but OMG the cost! Surely if you can get a wedding dress for pennies you can get chair covers cheap somewhere?0

Why worry about chair covers and the cost?
Went to a wedding during the summer, chairs / covers/ ribbons / bows all there, all of which were covered up with in minutes when guests took jackets / etc off and hung them over the chairs covers and ribbons, so you couldn't see them any way.
The bride reckoned had she of relised that is what was going to happen, she would have saved the money for some thing esle.............

I wish I could send you the ones I'm getting free that I don't want!
Could you do a light coloured carpet for the aisle to lighten up the dark floor instead?Common sense?...There's nothing common about sense!0 -
I was going to purchase my own but it came out to be roughly the same cost as hiring. And if I hired they do all the work so I can just relax.
You can get the covers on eBay but not sure what the quality is like, probably not very good quality. You can also get sashes etc on eBay as well as that is where I was going to get them from.
Sometimes others people who have recently got married sell theres as well on there.0 -
I've got over a year so I'll watch eBay.
I really need colour, I'm the most anti chair cover person you'll meet but the venue, though beautiful is so dark! We get to use the theatre lights which is great and they have people who set up and take down anything you bring in to protect the integrity of the building as it's listed so I don't need to worry about setting them up.0 -
You can design your own chair covers, you will find some really nice designs in Google.0

Chair covers can be bought for under £2 apiece, so buy a load and sell them on for £1 each, everyone's a winner ;-)0

Are chair covers even necessary? I'm thinking of leaving that out completely - surely all the guests will brighten up the chairs?Just muddling through this thing called adulting...0
