Cemap 1

Hello there,

Can anyone tell me about the CEMAP 1 exam? Do you need to remember stuff like tax allowances, interest rates etc or is it more general? Also I keep reading about obscure questions - presumedly everything is in the manual though? Any help would be appreciated... sagaracitta@hotmail.com

You read the folder. You get the mock exam papers and the CD and do the mock exams and then you sit the exam.

You have to remember what you read as that is being tested.

I found that the easiest of all 3 exams.

AFAIK you will not get that many questions on cemap1 about allowances but try and remember the main one - Stamp Duty thresholds.

As UK says, you need to remember as much as possible but I believe many people fail because of not reading or understanding the question properly. There are usually a lot of double negatives in there. Take your time and Read The Question.

If you are unsure of an answer you can flag anc come back to so rather than panic, go through all the ones you feel you know and then visit the flagged ones at the end to have a proper think about. Use reason and common sense and you can usually discount 2 of the 4 answers straight away, its then just between 2.

If you cannot choose between the 2 remaining, a colleague of mine had a rule of "the longest answer usually gets my vote" I wouldn't like to say if he was serious or not just by his personality and humour but he advises today so he clearly did something right lol!

    Good luck.
