The fact you are on a DMP is why you have a defaulted account, a DMP means you aren't meeting contractual payments so have defaulted on the arrangement0

Hi Jon and welcome to the forum.
Yes glentoran hits the nail on the head. The default reflects the fact that the original terms of the agreement i.e. paying a specified amount/minimum payment each month - have been definitively broken. This has usually happened, or is close to happening, by the time a DMP is set up.
If anything, it is arguably a good thing that the default was registered as long ago as it was - it will drop off your file altogether after six years i.e. February 2017.

Just a note - make sure the default dates are correct and coincide with when the DMP started. I have be contesting mine. You can try this and it worked for me but it might not work for everyone so be sure - if you have a default which is a late payment try your best to clear that debt first and get them to remove the entry from your credit file. Some may do it. I got upset about it all and they helped me out.0
