How to find a good mattress that will last longer than 6 months

I purchased a mattress from Argos and after 30 days it was falling to bits! Argos very kindly allowed me to pick a different one. However, after 6 months, this new one ended up the same way. They are now very kindly offering me to pick another one (excellent customer service!).
I’m not sure which one to pick. Several of the mattresses either have no reviews or good reviews. But a lot of reviews seem to be left by people who just bought the item, so they don’t really tell how long the mattress will last.
I’m of normal weight and take good care of my mattress. My last one lasted for 15 years, and while I don't expect a replacement to last anywhere as long, it should at least make it past the 1 year mark.
Are there any brands that are well known for their longevity. From reviews, Silent Night (and all it’s sub brands) seem to be one to avoid. But I can’t seem to find any info on a good brand.

Perhaps you are buying the wrong kind of mattress for either the bed base, your sleep, or both.
Go to a bed store that offers professional advice. Don't trust an anonyous online forum.0 -
I have had my Miracoil one for years and it is as good as new! they are made really well, there are different ones, I got an orthopaedic.. investing in a good mattress saves you money in the long run.. I highly reccomend that brand. Many thanks to all who contribute on MSE0

Thanks for all the replies. Are Habitat, Airsprung or Dormeo good brands? Thanks if anyone has tried these brands.0

I have an Airsprung Hollis Memory double mattress from Argos, delivered in June, so 6 months old now, and I'm very happy with it.
It's a no-flip mattress, so the underside is firmer (it's on a wooden slat base), and the top has a layer of memory foam padding - it took me a while to get used to the softer top, but it's very nice to sleep on.
I'm disabled, and spend a lot of time in bed, and am on the curvier side, so I'd say it's had a fair run of wear and tear, and other than the memory foam in the place I sit when propped up becoming a bit flatter, it still feels like new (my last mattress, similar price but lesser brand, had a visible dip in the same place by now, but not this one).
Homebase sell almost the same as Argos (same group), but have an extra 20% off for the next few days, so maybe worth seeing what stock they have before buying from Argos.DFW Nerd no. 884 - Proud to [strike]be dealing with[/strike] have dealt with my debts0 -
I bought mine off EBay, a decent Memory Foam mattress which we've had for a year. Both hubby & myself are on the larger side, and I can honestly say it's as good now as it was 12 months ago.Frodo: I wish the ring had never come to me. I wish none of this had happened.

Personally, I wouldn't buy from Argos! You're not going to get a quality item there. Go to a specialist bed retailer and probably not a chain store. You need advice on which is the right sort of mattress both for your bed frame and for you.
That said, I've had 2 very decent mattresses from chain stores- 1 from Bensons and 1 from Dreams. Dreams one is coming up for 15 years old and good as new (it was their own brand). Bensons one is only 4 1/2 years old, but good as the day we bought it. It's a Relyon and we will be sad to see it go eventually- best bed we've ever had.Minimalist
