Help me move to Oxford

  • If you're actually working at the JR hospital, there's a bulletin/advert board on the Intranet and sometimes accomodation pops up on there. It does seem dreadfully expensive though. I'm commuting from Gloucester which isn't fun, but there's a park and ride bus from either Water Eaton or Thornhill that costs £2 or £1.60 return direct to the hospital (Thornhill bus goes to the Churchill and Nuffield too). These buses also stop along the way. Hope you find something suitable soon and good luck in the new job.

I know your quote from Sevenseas worldwide might have seemed a bit steep but seriously I have used them and they are great - pick up and drop off where you want and even store for a few days if you need it.

I moved recently after having my house on the market for a while and was told by my agents to declutter to help sell so I boxed up some bits I dont use all the time and some big furntiure and had Sevenseas take it, store it and then deliver it when the sale had gone through and it wasn't that expensive and ther service was really good.

I would always recommend you look around and price up but for what you pay they do give a good service.

    Hope the move goes well.

that removal quote is either very expensive or very cheap, it really does depend how much stuff and what sort of stuff it is. Furniture, or 6 million boxes of books? If there's furniture, I do think a 'proper' removals firm are worthwhile.

If you go for hiring a van yourself, get a bigger one than you think you need because it's quite hard to guesstimate how much space it will take up, and bear in mind that you'll have to load and unload it, which will take longer than you think ... But a 'man and van' would be more feasible for that.
