Quidco or Discount Code

I plan on purchasing an Armani watch for my partner for xmas. I've found it on TIC Watches for £275, less than elsewhere. But I have a choice between going through Quidco or using a voucher code (as Quidco website says cashback won't be paid when a discount code is used from elsewhere).

I've found a 10% voucher code, which would bring it down to £247.50.

Or Quidco offer 15% cashback for TIC watches, bringing price to £233.75. Also, they've emailed me an offer to get a £10 bonus when I make a purchase before 31st Dec, so essentially bringing it to £223.75

Obviously I'd save more with the Quidco offer, but the voucher code offer is guaranteed.

My worry is that I won't use the discount code so that I can qualify for cashback, but then for whatever reason/catch/clause, I won't get paid the cashback.

I've never used a cashback site before. So can anyone shed any experience??

You are incorrect in your sums as quidco doesn't pay on the vat element for TIC.

So your watch is £229.16 before vat and then Quidco will pay you 15% which is £34.37. So the watch will cost you £275 minus £34.37 = £ 240.63

Personally I would use the 10% voucher which only makes it £6.87 more but its guaranteed whereas Quidco isn't.

  • Oh thank you so much for replying. How silly of me, I actually saw that T's & C's section vut the VAT part didn't register with me?!?

That makes sense now, and yes, int that case it makes much mroe sense to use the discount code. So thank you for the heads up!!! :)

I guess cashback is only really worth it when there is no discount vouchers available, so if you get the cashback...bonus, if not...you haven't lost anything.
