Working for Dominos etc...

Has anyone on here worked for Dominos as a delivery driver?

I'm looking to boost my income as I currently do a lot of casual work, and could do with something else.

Just wanted to hear other people's experiences with this type of work.

Are they flexible with hours? Any issues with customers/safety concerns?

  • If you are considering this, I would also recommend looking at delivery drivers for supermarkets?

Couple of the people I work with do this work "9-5" and then top up doing the evenings?

As long as you have a car and good local knowledge Dominos would be fairly simple. The perks must be tasty too!

  • A lot of branded food outlets are actually franchised so your conditions of work will be determined by the owner of the franchise not a large organisation with HR teams etc.

If using your own vehicle you'll need to have appropriate cover on your car insurance as someone said above or you may be asked to use a company moped which is shared with others and where you may not be entirely sure about its maintenance etc.

You'll need patience and tolerance - to deal with angry customers whose orders are late or wrong, to handle drunks who have ordered and can't pay etc.

You'll need the confidence to be all alone in some possibly rough areas carrying food or money that someone may be prepared to steal and you're in their way.

Parking will be a nightmare as well - some streets will be chock full later at night and you'll need to leave your car somewhere to make the delivery... all the time knowing that the customer is waiting and your boss will be angry if you're late.

Being a delivery driver can be a lot more stressful than most people first assume.
