Gift for 86yr old Granny

Can anyone help me with some gift ideas for my oh's elderly grandparent please? My own grandparents didn't "do" Christmas so I have no idea what to get her.
Previously it's been M&S biscuits and jigsaws etc but I feel with her advancing age and deteriorating health there has to be a better idea but I can't think if it. Budget £25-£30.
Thanks in advance.

Can I ever learn this budgeting lark? So far it's not looking promising

Well what kind of things does she like?
Is she a knitter/sewer? If she is what about some nice chunky knitting needles and wide wool? Does she enjoy puzzles or crosswords or anything like that?£2023 in 2023 challenge - £17.79 January0 -
That's the problem I don't really know and my oh knows less than me, part
Y because he's worse than the grinch HD partly because we have lived hundreds of miles away for the last 4-5 yrs and contact has been once a year if that.
I don't recall knitting or anything other than jigsaws, we are child free so no family photos really. Sorry I'm being really unhelpful.... but you see why I'm struggling. Can I ever learn this budgeting lark? So far it's not looking promising

How about a pashmina type shawl ? Older people seem to feel the cold and she could even wear it around her shoulders in the house.Nothing is so fatiguing as the eternal hanging on of an uncompleted task. William James0

Why don't you ask her?
My granny died a few years ago but in the run up to her last xmas she confided in me that she was fed up with dove gift sets and tins of biscuits - and wishes someone would just get her a multipack of ready salted crisps and some cans of Mackies (stout I believe)
So that's exactly what I got her!Bossymoo

How about a CD of music which she would have listened to when younger -big band sounds , Frank Sinatra etc0

My 94yo is a nightmare to buy for!
However, she absolutely loves people and people watching - she's one of the most sociable people I know. So, I've bought her a copy of the Humans of New York Stories book (if you haven't seen the facebook page, check it out) as I figured it's like people watching, condensed down to the good stuff, with stories, not requiring prolonged concentration and in an old person friendly format!
We've also had coffee table style books go down quite well when they have photography of her favourite animals.
She's not tech savvy (can't tune an FM radio, for instance - it's really that bad) but she has managed a DAB radio that we set up for her (we taped over the irrelevant buttons and pre-set it to a few stations she likes!) so I don't know if there's any tech that might work. Perhaps one of those Doro phones bought second hand?0 -
if in doubt ask though you may get there's nothing I need/want which doesn't help
I always make my great aunt a food hamper with individual sized/luxury items as these tend to be more expensive and she wouldn't buy them for herself. things like mini xmas cake/xmas or sponge puddings/ panettone/stollen enough for 1 or 2 serving without waste.mini jars of jam & pk scones, pots of custard, small bottle of wine, luxury chocolates/fudge, hot choc sachets, soups.
Its practical too as she gets some lovely treats and the money she saves on food over xmas means she can put some extra money on the electric for heating. There are lots of ready make hampers online or maybe even arrange for an online shop to be delivered?
a lovely fleece throw for the sofa/chair as alot of older people feel the cold more and are reluctant to use to much heatingthis year do something that scares you for courage is not the absence of fear just the knowledge that some things are worth the risk0
