can my husband help me out with my business and for how many hours

my husband to be, is massively in debt. since we have just moved in together, one of his debts for council tax for his business that closed down a few years ago has raised its ugly head. on trying to negotiate a regular payment for the council tax, they are saying that he has been seen working. In fact i have my own little business and he helps me out. I do not pay him, he doesnt claim benefits of any kind and never has. Is he not aloud to help me out and if he does how many hours can he help me

If he doesn't claim benefits and he doesn't work what does he live on?

i am self employed , registered as a sole trader, i pay for everything out of my takings which come in as cash. If he wants some cash he has it, as he helps me out for nothing, if now keeps a roof over our heads, and the wolf from the door, we are now a couple, i just want to know if helping your partner out now is not aloud ?????

if he's doing that instead of earning to pay his debt it's well iffy.

pay him minimum wage for his hours?

If he is working for you and you give him money then yes they will think has an income, and I'm sure it's a little bit more than a few quid here and there. If it's been less than 6 years since the CT was due then he could find himself in court, more than 6 years then he will be hounded by debt collectors.

Why doesn't he just get a job and start paying off his debt?

He works some hours. You give him money. You do know that is called employment?

He helps you out with your business, you give him money and he has been seen working. That would probably be because he has been working.

And just a small hint here, because all these agencies actually talk to each other - your partner is working at your business, you give him money, and everything is cash. Expect HMRC to be having a close look at you too.
