Raising bankruptcy fees, car & job questions

My husband is trying to get a better job. He only took this job as an interim to something better. It's the worst job he's had in very many years, but needs must. Childcare for 3 children would cost more than anything I could earn after tax, etc. We have no family nearby, so would have to pay for all childcare, and as husband gets home late/ spends usually a couple of nights away a week, I couldn't even take an evening job.0

If the car is needed for work they generally let you keep it especially as your husband is the breadwinner. Are you aware of IPA's if your husband gets a higher paid job and you end up having 'spare' after essential outgoings you will have to pay something towards your debts for up 3 years.0

I think the British Gas energy trust fund help with the bankruptcy fees.0

Thanks Fraggle. I was just concerned as although he uses it, it's in my name as originally I used it & he used his which is now not fit for him to drive long distances in. What are IPAs? Yes, we are aware we will have to make payments, but we're really just struggling to live on essential outgoings on his current salary, so we desperately need him to find a better job.0

Hi,
sorry to hear your situation. Re car, I was allowed to keep mine worth about £1800 at the time - hope this helps and wish you well dealing with matters -0 -
Thank you nervousandready. Fingers crossed then.0

They valued ours at £1575 and although they tried to get the £575 'extra' paid off (they told us to ask friends or family to cover it...) that just seemed to be a criteria they had to ask for as they didn't make a fuss when we said we had nobody to pay that.0
