Quite shocked but not suprised

I was out yesterday in our local out of town shopping centre observing the future Olympic sport of shopping. I wasn't spending a lot myself just that I had a book token to spend and was browsing through the various book emporiums.

However I passed a well-know clothing store which had dislayed in its window a childs T-shirt that had the legend " Miss Spendalot" printed on the front. To add to that there was another which had " I'm spoiled, so what?" on it.

I must say I was quite suprised that this is a message which will be shown by children. What kind of signal is that? Or am I becoing a middle-aged fuddy-duddy???

September grocery budget........trying for £80, not sure if I will make it though!!!!! I certainly did not last month, lost track of the final bill. Will do better this month honest.

    Tesco £57.13
    Petrol £10.00
  • No, we're not fuddy duddies at all - we just want the next generation to be able to enjoy living not shopping, to not struggle with debt and worry the way so many of us have. People who have too much get so little joy out of their stuff - now that I don't buy things I am discovering so many lovely things that I already have and had forgotten about!

You are absolutely right to be shocked - I would have been too.

No hope is there? I can't imagine any right thinking parent wanting to instil this sort of philosophy into their kids...says more about the purchaser than the wearer I guess.

Can I be a middle aged fuddy duddy too?

I'm constantly horrified at the clothes children wear on non-uniform day at school. eg "If Mum says no, I ask Dad", "I want it...(and on the back) ...and I want it now!" and worse "Little Rich B!tch" - now who buys that for their child?? Plus most of the girls in my school from aged about 7 upwards seem to dress like miniature, um, ladies of the night - think Julia Robert's miniskirt / crop top / high heel boots attire in Pretty Woman.

And what's that about?? My kids are grateful to be taken out for a meal - I doubt they would notice what it was served on!!!
  • Oh poop I'm off to the bad mothers club. My kids have T-shirts that say Trouble and YEAH YEAH WHATever.

  • My daughter's got a t shirt that says 'not listening' and wears it for non uniform day!

She's also got one that says 'Hi Loser' which I find hilarious, does that make me a bad mum?!

Seriously though I know what you mean, I reckon its sending out the wrong message and the 'spoilt' t shirt makes me cringe as I can't stand spoilt kids.
