Lynyrd Skynyrd, with their unique blend of rebellious southern country blues, and their hard-rock image are a band who still hold a special place in the annals of rock n' roll history.
Their recording career lasted only a criminally short four years before the world was robbed of a prodigious talent when band leader and songwriter Ronnie Van Zant along with two other band mates, Steve and Cassie Gaines, were tragically killed in a plane crash en route to a show in 1977.
The surviving members, who were all injured in the crash, brought the band to an end - leaving a legacy of classic songs that have ensured the band a special place in rock history. 30 years after this tragic event Fremantle Home Entertainment gives you Freebird The Movie & The Tribute Tour' celebrating the amazing contribution Lynyrd Skynyrd have made to rock and their far reaching influence on many of the best rock bands since.
