Are they up yet?

Options
We're a week into December today, so...have you put your decorations up yet? Or are you waiting a bit longer?

And for some inspiration if you haven't put them up yet, here's a very thrifty version of a Christmas tree from some medical students...

  • Might try this myself next year and save the added expense of a tree, My tree was up at the beginning of December and is finished with presents already. Nothing else to get now to bar food and plenty of drink.

I buy artificial ones as then you have them year after year! Also real ones are such a mess to clear up afterwards!

My tree is up as well as a bit of tinsel, but I want to put more up, so will do that this week.

It feels more like Christmas with a real tree though with the smell and the mess. :)

I got mine last Fri. We used the Ikea deal of £25 for the tree and a £20 voucher in return. I'm really pleased with the tree, it's huge and the best haped one I've had. Needed new decorations so ended up in Ikea (of course!) and stocked up there too.

Kind of didn't think it through entirely though, I spent all of Fri trying to find a base big enough (Dobbies reduced to £10 from last year, only one left in stock!) and my little boy learned to crawl the second the last bauble was placed so the last few days have seen me constantly getting up and down to try and stop him pulling it over!

My one and only dec this year is a small wooden reindeer that our daughter bought us last year.

My excuse is that daughter and her hubby are living with us temporarily (and so is all their furniture ) you would not believe the amount of sofas and chairs we have :D and then we won't talk about the garage we can't get into other than the doorway and the same goes for the spare bedroom so this gives me the perfect excuse not to go CHRISTMAS this year and this is the only tree we will see :xmastree: :rotfl: ;)
You could always got nuts with paperchains on the ceiling!!!
  • Mine have been up for about a week.

  • Our lights and the false green base with the baubles are up but it won't be complete until nearer Christmas when I bring conifer and holly cuttings in from the garden. These with pine cones saved from over the years and lanterns with tea lights help create a festive atmosphere for us, much nearer the time. We like to acknowledge the winter solstice so bringing in the green is part of that and it's when the baking commences/smells bring it all to life.
