DebtBeGoneToday
I've just signed up to the forums but have been reading and lurking for months.
As a single parent with a 20 hour a week term time job, money is quite tight and I do worry about my debt a lot. Before meeting my ex I had no debt but I was a crazy love sick idiot. Now I'm left with a CC with just under £2000 remaining, £200 Very debt, £1100 housing benefit overpayment and got tax credits hounding me for a £4600 overpayment but I believe this is wrong so going through a dispute over it, if it turns out it is right, I'm only liable for half of this.
I'm not worrying about housing as they are taking £10 a week out of my entitlement now and no interest. Very is 0% until June and the CC is on a 0% deal but no idea when this runs out, it's with Tesc, can't find anywhere in my online account where it states this, will have to dig out the paperwork. I will save worrying about Tax Creds until the dispute is resolved but have not heard anything back after sending all paperwork off 6 weeks ago.
I think when I was with my ex I got a little comfortable with money when before I used to budget nearly everything, my ex was the opposite, now I'm really struggling to get back into the mindset of not wasting money. The food budget and just popping to the shop is definitely my biggest waste at the moment.
I'm not really sure how well this diary is going to go but writing everything out might help me realise what I'm doing and what I need to change!
