'Late' post

  • Did you upload tracking details upon despatch? If so, that should take priority over the 'carrier says late delivery', although the bots haven't quite got the hang of the system yet. In any event, it should be removable, although you will probably have to call Ebay.

At the moment this seems to be the route to an automatic defect, unfortunately. I had the same with a signed for item - full tracking details show that delivery was attempted next day, but because the buyer didn't actually collect for a couple more days, ebay take that as late delivery and have given me an automatic defect on that order :( I wasted an hour on the phone to ebay, but they weren't interested and wouldn't budge.

This new metric seems to be a lose lose situation for sellers - I guess maybe I will need to extend despatch times too, but then the listings won't qualify for fast & free.

Yes I uploaded the tracking number on the day of despatch so nothing more I could do.

Just been to drop my post off at my local sorting office and asked if there is a problem with the post as one of my second class parcels took nine days to arrive. I was told it can take up to two weeks for second class to arrive, and up to one week for first class !

That's awful! I've just seen on the community boards that some sellers have stopped uploading tracking details due to the risk of this happening.
  • This system doesn't differentiate between time-sensitive orders that are a week late, and irrelevant things that arrive just one day after eBay's magic estimates. I'd like to see a buyers given a third option:

Did your order arrive on time:
    [_] Yes
    [_] No
    [x] Not bothered

I'd just like to see eBay give realistic delivery estimates! I say that as a buyer. I'm fed up of having to hunt around for the dispatch time and postage method information to calculate my own. I know full well that RM 2nd class postage takes up to 5 working days, especially at this time of year. Ebay saying it takes 2 or 3 is just irritating (although I've just checked and apparently RM also now say 2-3!). I've not seen how the new question is worded - if it says 'Did it arrive by X date?' then surely I have to be honest even if I know that was never going to happen? Or does it ask if it arrived when I expected it to arrive?

Not sure but I think it asks if it arrived by ebays estimated date and if you are honest and answer no, then the seller gets a strike even if they posted on time

Then eBay need to get their estimates sorted, otherwise they're deliberately falsifying data or something surely? They can't say it arrived `late' if it was in fact sent in time and delivered in time according to the carrier's estimate (not eBay's)?

They should just ask for the date it arrived, then they can give every seller a little bar chart of arrival times (for each delivery method) - much more informative, and less liable to eBay's tampering.

I'm now on my third buyer asking me where there item is. The first one was almost 2 weeks ago and I asked them to wait a few more days and haven't heard anything else since. The second was a US buyer and ebay gave them an estimated delivery date of about a week from purchase, in that instance I have sent a replacement. The third is a bit more pushy, he's already using words like 'disappointed at lateness' and 'can't understand why this is so late', he's also mentioned wanting to be fair with feedback. This was posted 2nd class last Tuesday well within the stated dispatch time but now very late according to ebay.
