Disturbance mileage

Does anyone know how long disturbance mileage can be claimed for and is there a maximum pence per mile which can be paid? I cant find anything on HMRC website

  • Its when someone gets paid mileage when their permanent base has moved, it is taxable or so I believe.

so your employer has moved you to a permanent new workplace but you have not physically re-located to be nearer that workplace. Consequently you are now commuting (over a longer distance) from home to work?

Googling disturbance mileage implies it is a public sector term and is therefore defined in your organisation's HR policies as to rates and time limits. It has no meaning in tax or to HMRC hence it is treated as taxable income because that is what it is, your employer pays you extra money at whatever rate, and for whatever duration, they want to
