 I am seething.I work for the NHS and am paid monthly on the 27th or if that is the weekend the nearest date on a weekday. After a particulary gruelling month of work, I have worked without a break, stayed after my shift and had to deal with some nasty members of the public, I was looking forward to being paid on Friday.I had arranged to take my children to the zoo.I am trying to manage my money and had budgeted for this.Guess what no pay! Apparantly the payroll dept have cocked up and either paid people short or not at all.i have been told I will be paid tomorrow but that is 4 days late and in the meantime i used my cc for the zoo, didnt want to let the kids down. But i also didnt want to usee the cc.Isnt it awful, last month I had no debit card due to the Abbey fiasco and now this.I feel the world is against me.Sorry I just had to let off some steam.

Just wanted to send you a hug.. have read/ heard of a few people being paid late this month, dunno if they all work for the NHS but yes it is pretty bad.. and working in a finance dept which deals with paying people there really isn't much excuse for not realising there's a problem in time and sorting it out.Debt@16.12.09 £10,362.38, now debt free as of 29.02.2012."I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better."0

The only time I ever got paid late (admittedly not the NHS), my employers said they would pay any charges incurred by them paying late. In my case it wasn't necessary as I didn't incur any charges, but it might be worth your while checking it out with your union.
Hope this helps.0 -
I remember one month telephoning one of the bosses to say that one of my staff's payslip hadn't arrived (one of the lowest paid too). He insisted he'd seen it in the courier basket and we must have lost it or the (in-house) courier had. The next day the wages went in but no pay for this gal so I rang the company accountant who was furious and travelled 50 miles to give her cash the same day and to apologise. He told me if there were any bank charges to pass them to the big boss for payment.
When I did so this charmer informed me "Oh she'd probably have had charges anyway-so we won't pay them". Fortunately she was the one staff member who never went OD and did get her charges back but the way this man handled this incident absolutely sickened me.I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole
MSE Florida wedding .....no problem0 -
Yeah they should be responsible for any charges.....M&S cocked up one month a while back and paid us a day late and promised to pay any bank charges back to us....I like my coffee black, just like my metal!

Its the bloody NHS. About par for them. They have entire buildings full of incompetent people (who swamp the rare few who are very good at what they do).0

Are employers allowed to get away with doing this?
We should be paid on the 27th each month too, not nhs, or the first working day before if the 27th falls on a weekend/bank holiday etc but we've only once been paid on time and that was after 3pm.
We've been paid late each month for the last 10months and apparently we may be paid on the 31st this month, at least a week late!
I and a couple of others have had problems previously with od charges etc because we've not been told salaries are going to be late, I informed my employer but they refused to pay my charges. Are they allowed to continue to pay us late?
The £2.00 Coin Savers Club = approx £22.00  :j.. The 20p Savers Club = £17.80.

You would need to check your original contract which should state how and when you should be paid.We only changed over to the 27th in April previous to that it was the last Thursday of the month. If its in your contract they may be in breach of contract in which case you should be paid any charges incurred because of them not adhering to contract.Ive been told apparantly that my wages dept will refund any charges incurred.0
