Close Brothers Premium Finance Group - Insurance Renewal
Looking for some help/advice here.
Have recently renewed my home insurance with Swift Cover who use Close Brothers Premium Finance as a premium provider via a direct debit I pay to them.
Year went around no issues! However I renewed at the start of November over the phone and received a direct debit form a few days later which I ensured was returned the same day.
Now a month later and this morning I receive a letter saying the direct debit wasn't successful and they want to charge me £30 penalty!
This doesn't seem right to me considering I followed the normal approach and met all expectations as a customer.
Going to call them Monday, what can I do here to prove that this wasn't my fault but also the penalty here is unlawful?
It's stressed me out and I worry they will repeatedly try this and things will escalate which I can't afford to happen. So a follow up to the above questions, how can I depart this agreement and join a reliable home insurer? And if so any recommendations here please.
Thank you in advance!

You need to find out first why the DD was unsuccessful did they give a reason, have you asked the bank or looked at your online banking, did they try and take a payment or are Close saying you've not sent the DD form )though not sure why they would need one if you paid them by DD for the previous years policy)?0
