    Another stratagy might be to book holidays for the last week in Jan and the 1st Feb.

    Do the induction on a voluntory basis and start employment on the 2nd feb 4 weeks after resigning the 4Jan.

    resigning early and the new job could be considered as competative there is the risk of dismisal on SOSR grounds of a breakdown of trust.

    If you tried to fight it the new employer may not be happy with you trying to fight an ET case against a previous employer.
