Inexpensively cheap meal planner

Options
I'm determined to get my groceries down. I'm sick of wasting so much money on food. All the money I waste I would like it to go into building an emergency fund instead. I have tried cutting down and when I have we ended up eat a hell of alot of pasta based and bread based meals:
Beans on toast Eggy Bread ,Tuna pasta, Pasta Bolognaise.
We obviously do eat other meals pizzas stirfys casseroles mince dumplings, salads, curries pies sunday dinners but when I include these inthe meal plan the price shoots right up.
All I want is to half what i spend on food each month and eat nutritional cheap delicoously healthy meals for pennies.
Can it be done?

  • I think so, if you follow people like 'a girl called jack' etc - but there seems to be quite a bit of time involved.

I do two cheap meals each week - can be home made soup, or beans on toast, poached egg and beans, sausage sandwiches etc - two meals each week like that does help

Beans on toast or sausage sandwich is a lunch rather than a proper meal, though. I'd still be hungry after.
Have you tried bulking things out so if you add lentils and extra veg to mince it'll stretch to two meals instead of one?
If there's a Lidl near you, look for the half price weekend offers as well, especially on meat.
All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.
