ive always been a ps man but as im looking to get a new console to replace the old ps3 ive started to look at the xbox1 as i quite like the look of the forza game and there doesnt appear to be any real decent car games out for ps4 like gran turismo yet.
i also fancy the new star wars game too.
whats the plus's and negs of both machines, i dont go online much but would probably start once i get one of these!!

Personally I think the ps4 started out ahead of xbox this time but xbox are slightly catching up.
PS4 imo is very slighty better graphics but I utterly hate the ps controller - it feels cheap and rather flimsy in comparison to the xbox one.
That being said, imo the ps4 has better exclusivity - as many of xbox one exclusives are only exclusives for 6 or 12 months (where with playstation, a lot of their exclusive games seem to be because they are sony games rather than a deal they have brokered.
I still feel (as with xbox 360 and ps3) that xbox one is better than ps4 for online/social gaming - despite the paid for services available through playstation plus now.
Imo xbone launch was a disaster. What should have been a next gen console felt like 10 steps backwards due to the lacking of even basic features - such as sending voice messages. But that has recently been added in an update and 360 games are also now being made backwards compatible (think they're adding more on a monthly basis) so being able to play your 360 collection if you have one may be a selling point for you.
Personally for me, I like the xbox one better. But I don't feel theres much between the consoles - more just down to exclusive games & which one your friends play on!You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride0 -
What kind of games do you play ?
You mention Forza and Star Wars, any others eg Tomb Raider ?
I cant comment on the PS4 but the Xbox One I can give you what plus and minus points I can. I like the controller, dont have a problem with it just as I did with the Xbox 360 controller. You can get a years subscription to Live for about £20 from cdkeys, you get 2 free games a month so it pays for itself imo. There's the backwards compatibility option, some games are available with more being added.0 -
I've got a xbox one and love it and haven't really seen much in the way of PS4 exclusives that would have swayed me. I'm sure PS4 owners would say the reverse though. Forza, Halo, Gears of War, Dead Rising and for a period of time - the new tomb raider (which is ace). Next year Quantum Break, Crackdown, Scalebound, Crackdown, Recore, Sea of Thieves, Fable are the big ones and there are a few indie games that look awesome. The PS4 will have similar amount of games although the vast majority are out on both systems.
If you've always been on PS then you are probably used to their controller layout although I think the xbox layout is much better. If you are happy with both controllers then go with the one which more of your mates has.
If you do have a mate with an xbox one, you can do digital game sharing which means you each get access to the others digital game so you can take turns buying and save quite a bit of money.0 -
thanks for replying guys, ive decided im going to stick to what i know with a ps4 but cant decide whether its worth buying the 500 or 1tb model, the wife says she has loads of those tesco points or whatever they are and tesco are doing the double points thing so i'd get it cheaper!, just need to decide which model now though but i do like the look of the star wars vader ps4!!!0

The hard drive space will fill up as you need to install games and they range from 15-50gb. You can replace the PS4 hard drive though but seems a bit daft to buy a new console then immediately swap the HD out. Go with the bigger one0

Go where the exclusives you like the look of are.
PS4 performs consistently better on multi platform titles if you're swayed by that kind of thing.0 -
500GB is not big enough.
I filled mine up in just over a year so I had to keep deleting and re-installing games.
That said, I don't think 1TB will be enough either. The 3TB HDD I put in cost £60 and took 20 minutes to install and is already using just under 2TB
You basically have two choices
- Get the 500GB one and upgrade the HDD at a later date
OR
- Pay extra for the 1TB one and accept you will have to start deleting and reinstalling games after a couple of years.0 -
I'd definitely opt for the 1TB model.
The last I heard there wasn't currently the option to expand storage on a PS4 (although this may have changed) although you can replace the existing drive.
On my Xbox One, with about eight titles installed (admittedly one of those was actually the Master Chief Collection, so four games there) I was below 70GB remaining. Bought a 2TB external drive to sort that out.0 -
I have a 500GB, and just went to start Assassins Creed Unity, update failed, had to free up space, deleted 4 games I have finished and no longer have. I have played 12 titles since I had the PS4.0

Current selling versions of the 500GB model are the new chassis version (quieter running) whereas the current 1TB version is the old model.
I just bought a 500GB recon PS4 from amazon (£199 in a special box direct from Sony, it looks completely brand new, comes with all packaging, 12 month guarantee, new controller etc). My previous console was a 360. Don't worry about the loudness of the PS4, it's 10 times quiteter than a 360.
I dont like the new controller, 'x' is in the wrong place and the triggers are cheap, the batteries don't last either. I'm also missing the offset of the left movement sick too.
I've only got 1 game, Bloodborne, which is very good and a ps4 exclusive, but dont expect to be blown away by the difference, it's just a bit higher res graphics.
There are not that many good games out though. If you look at the games charts, half of them are cheap 'arcade' games.
If I was buying again, I wouldn't buy and if I did, I'd try an xboxone0
