Sorry Duk, the council have not lost you your job. Council tax is a priority debt and should be the first thing to pay.
Did you apply for help with rent and council tax or is your income too high for this? Did you attempt to make a reasonable payment arrangement with the council?
Is it possible to appeal your dismissal, explaining your mitigating circumstances?0 -

Pop to the benefit forums for more specialist advice on benefit entitlements, such as housing benefit, council tax benefit and so on. There are posters there who work in Council tax and HB roles.
My understanding is that HB, in some circumstances, is fully payable at the full rental or LHA rate for a period of time to allow those who experience a change in income to adjust. Also, that there are discretionary housing benefit top ups for those whose rent is above their LHA rate. I'm sorry I don't know the specifics but the benefit board members will know if you will get a protected rate of HB for a while and how to apply for discretionary housing payment.
The Turn2us website is a benefit entitlement calculator.
In a historic post, you indicated that your landlord doesn't like HB claimants and would not cooperate (though you were told that their consent is not required and they wouldn't necessarily be notified). Is this still the case? Were you entitled to any HB when you had your drop in income? Is your rent much higher than the LHA rate?
The Shelter website has information for tenants who are struggling to pay the rent and may face repossession, including how a council will process a homelessness application for those who lose their home through no fault of their own, such as not being able to pay the rent (rather than intentionally not paying it when they could have, known as 'intentional homelessness'.). Those with disabilities can be considered to be vulnerable, and therefore a priority, for council assistance with housing.
You have indicated on your post that the council wouldn't listen. Perhaps this is something you can bring to the attention of local councillor and local MP who are there to serve you.
The Debt Free wanabee board has members there that can advise you on a proper debt repayment plan to reduce your non-priority debts like electricity and water to token sums, or how to get debts written off.
Finally, if you not struggling to deal with the crisis, the Samaritans can offer a sympathetic and non judgemental ear.0 -

OP failed to pay council tax due to a reduced income - council tax applied an earnings attachment - employer dismissed OP as he no longer passes DV security clearance - OP blames council for him losing his job.0
