Query about a debt being in dispute

I have a debt of around £6498 with Halifax.

The debt has been in dispute with Halifax since 24th August.

Today I received a letter from Moorcroft demanding full payment to their client Halifax.

So my question is, because the debt is in dispute with Halifax and has been since 24th August, can they actually sell the debt onto this DCA knowing its in dispute and can the DCA demand full payment?

What is the nature of the dispute?

If Moroncroft are demanding full payment to their client Halifax, then it hasn't been sold.

I have asked for Halifax to prove their claim against me by showing ways of various documentation, this has not been fulfilled by Halifax.

The account entered into dispute because Halifax have refused to supply documentation including the accounting of the alleged debt, they have not shown documentation.

All they have provided is a copy of a loan agreement which has not been executed properly as I was not living at the address to whih the loan refers to.

The recent letter from Moorcroft clearly states that their client is Halifax, again I have written to Moorcroft to show how they now own the debt, I have told Moorcroft that they account entered into dispute with Halifax on 24th August.

If you are challenging the CCA/documentation, then that is not a sort of dispute that can stop them passing it or selling it to a debt collector under FCA rules. If not enforceable, they can still try to collect, short of threatening court action.

Saying that, if you tell them what you dispute and why, they may well just hand it back to Halifax anyway.
