Hi
If anyone from National Debtline is free could they just advise if the wording in this letter is acceptable
I am writing with regard to the offer you have made for us for XXX to partialy settle your personal loan, I confirm that this offer has been accepted. it is vital that you ensure that this payment is received within two weeks from the date of this letter.
On payment of the agreed amount we will update your credit file held at the credit reference agencies to show your debt as partially satisfied, which will be an accurate reflection of the position. This information including the default will remain registered for six years from the date of default.
It is important to note that on payment of the agreed amount you will no longer have any further liability to pay the remaining balance and we will not request any further payment.
We already have a default so am not worried about that-just want to check the wording is sufficient to pay
Many Thanks

If it was me and if was being fussy I might like to see them say they agree not to sell it on, but I think the statement about liability covers the bases on that one.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

Hi, I agree with fermi and sourcrates that the wording sounds fine and confirms that you’ll no longer have any further liability. It wouldn’t do any harm to add fermi’s suggestion asking them to confirm the debt will not be sold on to be extra sure it’s dealt with.
