Been told I am facing disciplinary action.

It seems to me that trying to unravel who is responsible for what on here, the OP should be telling their union and the union should be working on it. It's not the first time the OP has been in trouble on this job. They say it also wasn't their fault that time either. But they didn't do anything about it and it was the family who told them not to appeal that was at fault.
Controlled drugs are a serious matter. I don't think we are in a position to tell the Op anything other than get professional advice. I don't know what the OP's job is, but I do know what happens if my pharmacist happens to forget to get me to sign for controlled drugs on prescription.
If the OP did nothing wrong, then that will be obvious.0 -
OP, who are the company responsible to for administering the drugs correctly?
I ask this because I think there are two things going on here.
The OP may or may not have made a mistake - if NewShadow's summary is correct, it sounds as if they haven't.
The employer may or may not deal with the matter fairly. Sounds as if the OP has no confidence in them to deal with it fairly.
This leads me to wonder whether taking advice from the 'responsible body' might be helpful. If the OP could say, at a disciplinary, 'I was so worried about this that I contacted the Drug Administration Agency [made up name] and they confirmed I had acted correctly' the employer's hands are tied. Of course, they could do anything, but the OP would have a good tribunal case and the employer is likely to realise this.
And of course, a good union would be helpful, but I suspect there isn't one involved (and actually even if there is, they are not always the brightest of organisations...)Ex board guide. Signature now changed (if you know, you know).0 -
