Thanks Bexter! What have you been up to this weekend??
I forget to add as well - I bought a new fridge freezer in the Very sale for £199, decent price for the size & spec & my old one was on its last legs as I was its third owner & it hadn't worked properly for a while.
The new FF was delivered on Saturday & when the guys took the box off, found there were 3 little dints in one area of the door - not deep so they won't affect how it works, but a cosmetic defect all the same.
They took pictures & phoned their supervisor, who said I could reject it, or ring Very & get a discount... so I signed for it & immediately called Very, who gave me £30 off, instantly credited to my account! :money:
I am very happy with this, as the dents can be covered with a fridge magnet & it's working fine so far, but am covered with free 5 yr parts guarantee anyway. £170 for a good size, brand new A rated FF is definitely a bargain in my book. :TPax Et Bonum0 -
Hello
I shall check out your bargain as my parents have just today been on about needing a new fridge freezer
Bit of christmas-ing this weekend. Also some cleaning and visiting. I think I'm almost sorted for Christmas now, just some cards to write and gifts to wrap with Christmas music on and a glass or two of shandy ( hic!) bank balance is looking healthy with all bills gone out and most savings so should be fine till NYE.
Hope you have a good week

Hi all,
Rebelle - try stock piling now while you've got the extra money. I'm planning on getting loads of cat litter from the wholesalers soon to carry us through the dry months. (For the cats, not to eat :rotfl:) and plenty of pasta and dried goods. Massive deep freezer too. How many are in your house to feed? there's only me, hubby, 2 feline furry children and the pooch
Really need to start tightening my belt. I started a new job recently and I've really not seen the extra money I'm earning. Weekly pay is hard to get used toI'm going to get breakfast bars for me and hubby.
Have a good day all - muchos cariad xxBack in the red :mad:

OMG I could cry, I just typed a big reply to you all & then the internet ate it!! B*gger!!
Anyway… how’s everyone’s week going? Any fantastic MSE efforts to report?
Pretty quiet start to the week here, work busy as usual & I’m counting down the days til I only have to work til lunchtime instead of all day!
Went into town for a few essentials last night & managed not to buy anything extra – result! Got 6x tins Whiskas for £3 from Tesco, on a 2 tins for £1 deal – that’s about the cheapest price I’ve found Whiskas for & much better than paying £3.68 for the 6 tin multipack on the shelf beside the single tins! :money:
Also got a huge roll of extra wide wrapping paper for 99p & some reels of pretty ribbon & bows, also 99p so am now all set for present wrapping! Gonna do it at the weekend or one evening with a few drinks & the Xmas tunes on, as mentioned by someone else upthread… during my declutter I’ve found a few half used packs of Xmas cards, so I’m only buying a handful of ‘special’ cards & using up old ones for the rest. Found some little mini cards with not so brilliant designs, so they’re getting hole-punched & threaded with ribbon to make tags. Isn’t a lovely feeling of satisfaction when you use up old stuff & save yourself some money too? I’m getting quite addicted…! :rotfl:
Bexter – would highly recommend Very for electricals/appliances, even with the dented door FF! I presumed as they are basically a catalogue company, they would be overpriced with bad customer service, but I have been happily proven wrong, had quite a few things from them (PC, tablet, mobile phone, FF) & all have been reasonably priced & any issues have been sorted very quickly – the charger socket broke on my tablet while it was still in warranty, so I contacted the manufacturer & within a day or so a courier picked the tablet up from my door & returned it again after a week, completely repaired & at no cost to me!
HappilyMarried – Good shout, I most definitely would have been stockpiling like the world was about to end if I’d had more notice of all these changes! The opportunity to go part time & now the house move have both been quite sudden & with it now being (sing with me!) “the most expensive time of the yearrrrrr” coupled with the fact I am about to move house, I don’t have the money or space to stockpile a lot. Thankfully there is just me, a cat & a part time custody dog in my household, so quite cheap to feed & maintain. In theory!
And weekly pay is a nightmare, I agree! I was paid weekly as a temp when I was younger & I could never make my money last, even though at the time I still lived at home & paid board rather than a realistic share of the bills… If you can, maybe putting some into a savings account as soon as you get paid (the ‘extra’ that you are not currently seeing the benefit of) will soon see it mount up?
Prosaver – I steer clear of online calculators, because you can never be sure of the methods they use to calculate & I prefer to do all the calculations for my charts by hand, so I know exactly how I’ve arrived at the numbers I’m interpreting. It’s true that a lot of numerologists (& also astrologers…) will give you a relentlessly optimistic & ridiculously flattering view of yourself in their reading of your chart, but the true purpose of Numerology is to help you to understand yourself better – both your good & bad qualities. But everyone has greatness about them – it’s whether you choose to use it or not!
Hope everyone’s having a good day!Pax Et Bonum0 -
Good luck
Although the hours get eaten up by working from home, they can be re-jigged. So I would say do things like making bread from scratch - it doesn't take long, but you need to be able to deal with it.
Similarly, it's easy to get casseroles and stock pots on at the right time.
if you like to go to the gym or pool, you get cheaper "off peak" memberships - but of course if you prefer outdoor exercise, you can make the most of short winter days.0 -
Hiya Rebelle,
I always find room to stockpile lol. Freezer space - they're more efficient if they're full. Under the bed, in pretty boxes on top of the kitchen cupboard.
I put money aside to cover the bills but the extra is disappearing through my hands. Mind you, now hubby's earning again I might see a bit more lol. I'm doing Christmas shopping this weekend so it'll be in one hand and out the other again...Back in the red :mad:

hi Rebelle - haven't been posting much lately so its taken me some time to read your thread!
The Numerology sounds interesting and yes it could take off given the right marketing.
The Holistic therapies are really interesting to me as I am a Reiki Master Practitioner. Now that is where I COULD have some ideas to help you 'earn' from that!
I have only used my 'skills' on a non commercial basis (worked as a volunteer for a charity).
but, a couple of other volunteers got interested and I explained to them how you train and get properly qualified. One of them is a Beauty Therapist and she has found it has given her 'another string to her bow' in what she can offer clients and increased her client base. (and profits). She has only done the 1st course and finds it is enough for her needs.
another was untrained in anything and did the first course, then found through word of mouth that the people she 'practiced' on told their friends and before she knew it she had 'clients! she now hires a 'therapy' room at a local hairdresser/beauty parlour and works exactly what days and hours suit her! again she is earning a nice wage (not megabucks but comparable to say a teacher or nurse). She has since gone on to do the further courses and is also a Reiki Master.
You never know where these things lead to! Good luck with everything!0
