Running Events

Hi all,

I am trying to find out if there are a few central places that list local races across the country? I am interested in running a few 10k's or so next year.

I know of https://www.fellrunner.org.uk/ as I will be hoping to do a few of their races too, but also interested in something less mountainous too.

So anyone know of any good websites to find events?

    Google?
Sorry, sounds really sarcastic but it really is what I use :D. Now I've learned a few of the common organisers in my area I go straight to their websites too.

I suppose it depends on what you're looking for, but "find a 10k race" threw up these two promising ones:
    http://!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!/events/running-events-home.aspx
    http://www.runnersworld.co.uk/events/

I don't know of any central trackers, but it would be useful! I've been trying to do a similar thing for triathlons and it's a pain in the arris!

ETA: Wow, spam filters are in overdrive! The first link is http:// the running bug.co.uk/events/running-events-home.aspx Remove the spaces, obviously.

Thanks Angry Bear. I will take a look.
I am sure that I will be fit enough to run some 10k's next year if I enter them ;)

  • Runners world usually has a good event guide.

    Thinking critically since 1996....
  • The best (for road running) is this:

  • Also consider Virtual Races, they can be fun :)

If doing virtual races, I presume that would mean that:
    a) I would have to run with my phone?
    b) Have headphones in?

I'll be all over that :)

Not necessarily. You do with the ZR ones, but that's an interactive story :) with HRC ones it's a "pledge" to do a set distance as fast as possible - you do your own route.

The zombie runs I wouldn't be able to do then.

I can't run with headphones in as I run down roads with no footpaths so need to know what is going on around me. I also don't bother to take a phone as use a GPS watch to track and navigate.

I could enter the VR races though. Although I very rarely run flat out (except on a sat at parkrun ;) ) but if there is a 5k one then I could use that. And starting jan I am hopefully entering some 10k races so could use those. I mostly do gentle 10 mile runs or intervals.
