Cap 1 don't do debit card payments ...

Options
... at present.

They do accept payments over the telephone, but only by something called tel-banking, if your bank offers this service. Even if they do, the payment takes 5 working days to credit your account.

All this could cause problems with emergency "last minute" payments, which you can usually get away with by using a debit card.

I've just noticed this on my new Cap 1 card statement, and - as usual - purely by accident whilst looking for something else.
The acquisition of wealth is no longer the driving force in my life. :)

Setup a diect debit, you won't have any last minute worries then.;)
I think that although they don't advertise it, they are able to take debit card payments over the phone, but it still isn't instant and takes something like up to 4 working days to credit your account.

  • At the mo they don't take payments by a debit card, although they plan to in the future - so they told me last time I rang Capital One.

Ways you can pay: Direct Debit, standing order, telephone & internet banking, post a cheque or pay at a bank (some banks charge for this).

When did you last call? I questioned them about it when applying for the 4%, and they said they can take them.

I know that they only used to be able to take them when account was in collections, but they definately advised me that they could over the phone now for all acounts, but that they dont advertise it.
So unless that policy has changed in the last 3 weeks, you should be ok to call up

I asked them about accepting debit cards about 3 years ago, and they said they would be offering it soon.

    I didn't hold my breath
    It's a health benefit ...
