Hi
I have been a lurker for quite a while (using some tips from other peoples threads to help me along the way) and thought it was about time I registered and said hello.
I am now half way through a Scottish Trust Deed and although ideally I would have liked to have paid back the full amount I owed, at the time this was the only way out of my debt problems. I never realised I could have gone to CAB about my debts and I had never heard of payplan or the CCCS back then. I have now!
I found it very tough going to begin with, learning to live within my means again and not having to rely on credit cards. Now I am glad to say I can manage both. I pay mostly with cash and although I have a Visa Electron with my basic bank account I very rarely use it. Paying with cash I know how much I am spending and I can see it dwindling away. I have been using Internet banking and a spending diary to help keep track of what I have been spending.
This site seems to have so many great people with great advise I hope I can continue to use hints and tips from others and join in with some discussions.
Thank you for reading.

PS Is it compulsary to add a Statement of affairs to this post?

Thank you for the quick reply
I am looking to sort out life assurance as the policy I had, I had to surrender recently as it was paid for by a relative but was in my name and had a surrender value on it. I may post an SOA when this is sorted as I have a feeling my IP will want more money from me as well as I have been given a pay rise at work too.

My TD finishes in February 2009, and to be honest the last 18 months have flown in and I hope the next 18 go just as quick! I think I will have paid off roughly about 75% to 80% of my debt by the time it is finished.
I am able to pay quite a bit to my TD as I still live at home with my parents and they have been really supportive. I was very ashamed and embarrassed when I first got into this mess but now I talk quite freely about it and most of my friends know that I can't always afford to go out and do things, I really have to save a little money for a night out and remember that I only have so much for the month. I've pretty much got my spending under control now which I am very proud of.

Finally re-found my post from when I registered!............... Way back in August.
Have been very busy working working and more working! I seem to have my money still under control, which I'm pretty pleased about. Wil be getting the last of my Christmas pressies bought within the next few weeks so I dont have to worry in December about it.
Anyway thats all of my update for now

Been a while since I posted on this thread and on the forums in general but have been kept busy at work and have been busy with other things, cheap dates to the cinema with my monthly pass for cineworld mostly! Swimming or nights in.
Christmas was a nightmare, I had 3 nights out the 1st 3 weekends in December which hit the money hard, had budgeted for 2 of them but the 3rd was a nice surprise and I didn't want to miss out, so used the remaining pressie money and used my early January wage to finish off my shopping, BAD plan as I struggled over Christmas with having visitors, lots of going out. Into January, had no money for anything pretty much by 3rd/4th Jan :embarasse (The down side of being paid a week before you usually get paid at Christmas) I have learnt my lesson.
So Februaury is a new month and a new start for me!
As of this coming week I am taking on an extra responsibility of taking home one of the kids from work several nights a week. So that will keep me occupied during the week.
I am in the process of losing weight, and my mum is paying for meetings and a gym membership for me with our local pool. Not too keen on the gym, I can't run due to back problems but I do like swimming and its cheaper to take out the membership with going 3/4 times a week than paying up front. I'm enjoying it and I fgeel so much better for it too, its a nice way to leave all your worries at the door and just have a good long swim to release tension and the stresses of life.
Anyway enough blabbing on!!
Hope everyone is doing ok with their Debt Free journey.
