My progression has hampered by career...help

I am really in need of some advice on the job hunting front, I have a bizare career over the last 7 years, where I have progressed quite regularly, however I now find myself as a jack of all trades and master of none.
My career to date: (all with the same organisation)
3.5 years as customer service supervisor - however a large part of this was as I was undertaking the role of the manager while they were furthering their career. I was promised their job and they moved on within the business and I got over looked. I helped grow this department 3 fold.
18 month secondment to another part of the business during this time working on improving the business performance which i did significantly, I took some responsibility for manager over 100 colleagues supporting the operations manager. I spent 6 months as a secondment as an operations manager at another site.
18 months as a contact centre manager - I was asked whether I wanted a new role, to project manager the set up of a contact centre. This role was heavily reliant on the businesses support, which I never got, and the delivery of projects outside of my control. The long and short of it was, I delivered partially but the project was moth balled including me making people redundant.
At this point I left the organisation
18 months as manager of a department akin to a contact centre manager.
I know at the best of times job hunting is hard, however I fell that my career has been good, but I have done 4 widely different jobs, then when I apply they are looking of experience in a particular role. I have written my CV up to highlight what I have done, but as I have progressed regularly it looks a mess, and however I write it I cannot spin that I failed to deliver a project into something positive.
As I have been successful I am currently on a good salary and finding it hard to get a strategy in place.
I am afraid that recruiters cannot look past this and are inly looking for someone who has done the exact job for x years, whilst my career to date has been varied and I have delivered some fantastic things in a very short time.
I may just be ranting and it may not be an issue as big as I am making.

It's not such a big issue as you are making of it. In terms of the project some part of it was a success, just focus on those parts in a CV.0

I have no idea in what way your previous job roles can be considered "bizarre".... I was expecting something like marine biologist in the North Pole and trying to get into retail

In a nutshell, you have (at the very least) a good platform of skills to work towards a specific role. Pick a role and utilize your skills, or maybe do a similar things with a more supportive company and grow into a role!0
