new student going bankrupt

Hi,

Hoping someone can help. I am due to start Uni end of Sept as a mature student. My grant and student loan has all been approved.

Due to my reduced income as a student I am looking to go bankrupt with my pre student debts.

Does anyone know how this will affect me? Can the or take my grant/loan money as asset/earnings?

I can find plenty of info on the student loan not being w/o in the bankrupcy which is fine as I dont want that anyway but I cant find out if they will take the money off me as I cant afford uni without it.

Any help appreciated

Thanks

It's not going to look good banking just as you start Uni with the OR. You're gonna have a lot of explaining to do.

There has been a couple of posters on here who have gone to uni after going BR and there has been no reported repurcussions from it by the OR. After all you are looking to improve your life. I'm sure there will be someone along who can say definatly yea or nay!

Conor I for one am getting very fed up of the way you are posting, please be aware of what you are posting and it's tone. You often post good advice but then you post some utter c**p.

    Hi,

Thanks tigerfeet2006 for the reply. For anyone else who might need to know the answer to this question I have found out the following...

As student loans are not included as a debt in bankrupcy the money received from them is not counted as an asset or income. Also bankrupcy has no affect on student loan payments or entitlement.

I have got this information from nationaldebtline, insolvency helpline and student loans so is reliable!!

Thanks everyone who took the time to read my post and I hope someone else might find this info helpfull.

I think Conor was just trying to make the point that the OR may see this as trying to get out of paying an IPA by going to uni so not having any disposable income. I think the OP should be okay though
