Post Bankruptcy

Can anyone tell me, once you are made bankrupt, does the OR keep pestering you? I have read something on the internet that implies that they do, but I may have misinterpreted it. I am about to be made bankrupt and so stressed about it. I can't sleep, eat, think.

I am terrified of the court day, although a friend of my niece said she and her husband went through it and said it was actually quite painless. They had a business, so their case was more complicated than mine.

Can anyone reassure me. I want to put all this behind me and I don't want the OR to keep ringing me and writing to me afterwards. I dread the sight of the postman, and it's not fair - he is such a nice chap!

Depends if there is anything or any issue they need to sort or enquire about.

In most cases where things are straight forward, you probably won't speak to them more than 2 or 3 times.

In my case, after the initial form filling in and phone interview, all communication was via email. My contact was perfectly nice and friendly and was just about clarifying facts, eg some dates. I also had a few one-off payments to make, as well as an amendment to my IPA, but all communication was perfectly business like and not at all pestering!
  • I went BR in May earlier this year and apart from an OR interview, I've heard nothing. I was even told my BR would be sent for "further investigation" as I gambled a lot with my wages over the past few years - however the OR has accepted that my gambling didn't cause my debts (I never incurred debt to gamble), but my gambling stopped my debts being paid.

I expect to hear something nearer my discharge date in May next year but I haven't heard anything for at least 5 months.
