Tooth xray query

About to have third xray in 10 months and wonder if this is usual or excessive ? It is to check the root of an upper wisdom tooth.
I will ask when I get there but curious if this the norm.

Every X Ray, under irmer, has to be justified. Sometimes none are taken for a few years sometimes eight may be taken at a sitting.
To put into context the three X Rays you have had have exposed you to less radiation than a one way airplane trip to Spain, or eating six Brazil nuts.0 -
A great link putting radiation doses in perspective https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/ionising-radiation-dose-comparisons/ionising-radiation-dose-comparisons0

Best to ask the dentist. Could be many reasons.
It is quite possible that one or more of them might have 'missed' what the dentist wanted to look at - it is a very hard tooth to correctly position the film & unit for. But even re-taking because of error is perfectly acceptable and justifiable! No-one hits 100% on x-rays like that! How to find a dentist.
1. Get recommendations from friends/family/neighbours/etc.
2. Once you have a short-list, VISIT the practices - dont just phone. Go on the pretext of getting a Practice Leaflet.
3. Assess the helpfulness of the staff and the level of the facilities.
4. Only book initial appointment when you find a place you are happy with.0 -
Thanks. Been and come back and no xray - think she must have forgotten. Actually main concern had been soft tissue in the area as I have optic nerve problem and worried it could cause damage.0
