American Express had a My Offer, which was spend £20 on Amazon, get £10 cashback. So I trundled over on 4th December, and bought a pair of RAM chips, for my laptop.
It's supposed to be £32.94 inc VAT, and eligible for Free Delivery. Somehow, it ended up as £24.94 .
Order Summary
Item(s) Subtotal:
£27.45
Postage & Packing:
£3.33
Total Before VAT:
£30.78
VAT:
£6.15
Total:
£36.93
Promotion Applied:
-£11.99
Grand Total:
£24.94
So paid £24.94 with Amex on 4th December. This is the Amex online statement:
05 Dec 2015 AMAZON CO UK RETAIL
-£10.00 04 Dec 2015 AMAZON UK RETAIL AMAZON.CO.UK
04 Dec 2015 AMAZON UK RETAIL AMAZON.CO.UK
£24.94
So, Amex credited the £10 cashback the next day.
The fun thing is, there is a further 2.5% cashback on £24.94 for shopping in the Amex anniversary month. That is about 62p. So, the RAM upgrade cost £14.32 .
Now, the original SODIMM Ram chip is doing nothing, so I put it on eBay. Assuming I can sell it for £10, plus postage, I will have upgraded my laptop for £4.32!
Tried to recreate the deal today, but it's firmly stuck at £32.95, still Free Delivery. So, Cyber Monday was a great deal for me.0
