Requesting a CCA query

Sorry to be so basic as Im fairly new to this.
Im about to request CCA's from each of my credit card companies. Is this wrong?
Many of the posts Ive come across appear to request CCA's once its been handed to a debt collection agency.
Is it pointless sending it to the original credit card company?
