Help! Self Assessment Tax - personal allowance

Eek! DH trying to complete his self-assessment online BUT it seems that they are not automatically deducting the personal allowance! This leads to a heavy tax bill. What's going on? This has never happened before. Shouldn't the personal allowance be automatically deducted at some point?

Have you got to the point where they give you an estimated tax liability? Anyway, there's no urgency. Give them a call on Monday maybe?

He called them today. Advice: just fill it in, then call in 72 hours to sort it out! Hmmm...no thanks. Then how long to battle to get money back?

If he's filling it in now, then the money isn't due until January 31st, so there's plenty of time to sort it out.

Just checking - his income wasn't over £100k this year for the first time, was it? Because if so, that may be why it's not showing.
